ITINERARY

Day 1
Sydney to Wagga Wagga
Distance : 459 Kms Time : 5 Hours

PICK UP:  Cruisin Motorhomes Rentals and Campervan Hire Sydney, 10 Wurrook Circuit, Caringbah NSW 2229.

Morning: Pick up your motorhome hire Sydney at our branch. Our friendly staff will explain everything you need to know for the best experience! Drive to Goulburn (approx. 2 hours from Sydney) to visit the Big Merino, a quirky roadside attraction—great place for a coffee break!

Mid-morning: Continue your journey to Wagga Wagga, known for its vibrant arts scene and beautiful parks.

Afternoon:  Visit the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery. Alternatively, enjoy a leisurely walk and check out the zoo & aviary in the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens.

Evening: Enjoy a delicious dinner at La Porchetta Restaurant, which offers great pizza, pasta, and an Italian-style menu! Alternatively, try out The Oakroom Kitchen & Bar for great modern Australian cuisine.

Day 2
Wagga Wagga to Mildura
Distance : 561 Kms Time : 6 Hours

Morning: Cook breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen of your Cruisin’ Motorhome or grab some takeaway at a local café, such as Thorne Street Café. Begin your drive along the Sturt Highway, passing through small towns like Narrandera and Hay. Take a break at the Regatta Beach picnic area to stretch your legs and have a snack. Keep an eye out for beautiful farmland vistas and the occasional kangaroo sighting.

Afternoon: Arrive in Mildura early afternoon. Mildura is known for its proximity to the Murray River and its rich agricultural history. Take a stroll along the Murray River or, if time allows, hop on a paddle steamer for a short cruise. Alternatively, visit the Mildura Holden Motor Museum, a magnificent display of 28-35 Holden vehicles starting from the first model made to current models.

Evening: Dine at Stefano’s Restaurant, a renowned Italian eatery serving gourmet dishes with locally sourced ingredients. The tasting menus are highly recommended!

Day 3
Mildura to Clare Valley
Distance : 375 Kms Time : 4 Hours

Morning: Start your day with breakfast at Two Black Sheep Cafe, a local favourite for a filling morning meal. Depart towards Clare Valley, a famous wine region in South Australia known for its Rieslings. The drive will take you through diverse landscapes and into the beautiful vineyard-filled valleys.

Lunch: Arrive in Clare Valley by late morning. Appreciate a late lunch at Seed Clare Valley for a locally sourced meal with seasonal produce and, of course, great wine!

Afternoon: Spend the afternoon enjoying a wine-tasting tour. Start with Jim Barry Wines, known for their award-winning wines. Then, head to Sevenhill Cellars, the oldest winery in the region, which also has beautiful grounds to explore.

Evening: Enjoy a farm-to-table dining experience at Slate Restaurant, whose menu showcases regional flavours and local ingredients. Alternatively, appreciate a homemade dinner in the luxurious kitchen of your Cruisin’ Motorhome. Stay overnight at Discovery Parks—Clare, surrounded by rolling vineyards, offering a serene spot to rest.

Tips: Stock up on food and favourite snacks and ensure the fuel tank and batteries are full. Facilities are going to be limited for the next few days!

Day 4
Clare Valley to Pildappa Rock
Distance : 500 Kms Time : 5 Hours 20 Minutes

Morning: Have a coffee and light breakfast at Indii of Clare before leaving Clare Valley. Start your journey west toward the Eyre Peninsula. Stop for lunch in Port Augusta at The Standpipe, a heritage-listed building with a mix of Indian and Australian cuisines.

Afternoon: Arrive at Pildappa Rock by the afternoon. This ancient granite rock formation, resembling a wave, is perfect for hiking, photography, and exploring the unusual landscape. Climb to the top of Pildappa Rock for panoramic views of the Gawler Ranges. The late afternoon light makes for stunning photography!

Evening: Prepare your own meal at the campsite. Make it a BBQ night and enjoy the solitude under the expansive outback sky. Roast marshmallows over the fire, swapping stories around the warmth of the campfire. With minimal light pollution, this is a great spot for stargazing.

Tips: Drive slowly on your way to Pildappa Rock, as the last 10 km are “dirt roads”. Please note that the dirt road is well-maintained and suitable for non-off-road motorhomes. If not safe, please turn around. Visit the council website for more information.

Campsite recommendation: Pildappa Rock Campground, Pildappa Road, Minnipa SA 5654. Unpowered site, make sure you have charged the batteries the day before. Shelter, picnic, toilet and barbecue facilities are available.

day 4

Day 5
Pildappa Rock to Nullarbor
Distance : 548 Kms Time : 6 Hours 15 Minutes

Morning: Wake up early to witness the sunrise over Pildappa Rock. Have a light breakfast and coffee at the campsite before beginning your journey toward the Nullarbor Plain. Make sure to refuel in Ceduna before heading into the vast, remote Nullarbor region.

Afternoon: Stop at the roadhouse near Head of Bight for a late lunch. This is a famous whale-watching spot (best between May and October). From the cliff tops, take in breathtaking views of the Southern Ocean. Continue your journey to Nullarbor and set up camp.

Evening: Grab a hot meal at the roadhouse, which offers classic Australian food like steak sandwiches, burgers, and chips.

day 5

Day 6
Nullarbor to Caiguna
Distance : 548 Kms Time : 6 Hours

Morning: Enjoy breakfast at the roadhouse before setting off. Make sure your vehicle is stocked and refuelled. Continue along the Eyre Highway, driving the “90 Mile Straight,” Australia’s longest straight road!

Afternoon: Arrive in Caiguna by early afternoon. Grab lunch at the Caiguna Roadhouse, where you can enjoy a sandwich or a classic Aussie meat pie. After lunch, take a short walk to the nearby Caiguna Blowhole, a natural vent in the limestone that releases air from underground caves.

Evening: Cook a meal at your campsite before settling in for the night. Play some games or watch a movie.

Campsite recommendation: Baxters Rest Area offroad Camp, Caiguna WA 6443. Unpowered site. Ensure you have charged the batteries the previous day, to be able to enjoy all the facilities of your Cruisin’ Motorhome.

Day 7
Caiguna to Coolgardie
Distance : 536 Kms Time : 5 Hours 30 Minutes

Morning: Start the day with breakfast at the Caiguna Roadhouse if open, then continue your westward journey, passing through small roadhouses and taking in the vast emptiness of the outback.

Afternoon:  Arrive in Coolgardie, a historic gold mining town, by early afternoon. Have lunch at Coolgardie Cafe. Visit the Goldfields Exhibition Museum to learn about the town’s gold rush history. Stroll through the main street lined with historic buildings. Alternatively, check out the Lindsay Pit Lookout, an open-cut gold mine named after G.S. Lindsay, brother-in-law of explorer David Lindsay.

Evening: For dinner, head to The Denver City Hotel, a classic Aussie pub. The menu features hearty pub meals and local beers. Alternatively, enjoy a homemade meal in the comfort of your Cruisin’ Motorhome.

Morning: Grab a coffee and breakfast at Cafe 312, before starting the final leg of your journey. Head west toward Perth, passing through towns like Southern Cross and Mundaring. Take your time to stop for breaks and enjoy the changing landscapes.
