ITINERARY

Day 1
Hobart to Triabunna
Distance : 78 Kms Time : 1 Hour

Morning: Pick up your motorhome in Hobart and stock up on Easter goodies at Hill Street Grocer West Hobart or any supermarket. Drive to historic Richmond Village. Wander the quaint streets, cross Australia’s oldest stone bridge, and visit the Old Hobart Town model village.

Afternoon: Explore a couple of vineyards in the Coal River Valley—Pooley Wines and Every Man and His Dog Vineyard are accessible to motorhomes. Stop for lunch at Coal River Farm—they do excellent cheese and chocolate (stock up for Easter Sunday!).

Evening: Drive on to Triabunna, a peaceful coastal town. Dinner cooked in your motorhome or head to The Fish Van (check hours).

Day 2
Triabunna to Swansea
Distance : 50 Kms Time : 40 Minutes

Morning: Take an early ferry or cruise to Maria Island (departing from Triabunna, 10 minutes away). Hike to Painted Cliffs, spot wombats, and soak in wild Easter nature. We recommend hiring bikes to explore the island. You’ll see a lot more!

Afternoon: The last ferry to Triabunna leaves at 4:15 pm. Then, drive to Swansea via scenic Great Eastern Drive. Stop at Mayfield Bay Coastal Reserve for a snack. Check out any local Easter markets in Swansea (held annually over the long weekend at Jubilee Hall with local crafts, food, and egg hunts for kids).

Evening: Sunset stroll along Schouten Beach, then enjoy an Easter seafood dinner at Saltshaker Restaurant overlooking the bay.

Swansea to Freycinet

Morning: Early start to reach Freycinet National Park. Hike to Wineglass Bay Lookout—ideal morning light for photos and a peaceful walk before crowds. Alternatively, do the Mt Amos hike for a stunning view (allow 3,5 hours return).

Afternoon: Refuel with lunch at Geographe Café in Coles Bay. Spend the afternoon kayaking in Coles Bay, lounging at Honeymoon Bay, or trying a local oyster tasting at Freycinet Marine Farm.

Evening: Join a community Easter movie night or bonfire (held in past years at Big4 Iluka or Coles Bay area – check local boards upon arrival). Alternatively, roast marshmallows at one of the outdoor BBQs and set up your own mini Easter movie night in your motorhome!

Morning: Admire the sunrise over Cape Tourville Lighthouse, and enjoy a short and beautiful walk with cliffside views. Then… Easter egg hunt! Many local campsites and holiday parks host kid-friendly hunts—ask the BIG4 staff.

Afternoon: Relaxed Easter lunch – either picnic-style at Richardson’s Beach or book ahead for a treat at Richardson’s Bistro. Want to do something unique? Join a scenic flight over the peninsula for a bird’s-eye view of Wineglass Bay!

Evening: Take an evening wildlife tour, or walk to Sleepy Bay at dusk. Share a special Easter dinner in your motorhome using local produce and sweets collected on the way. And for desserts, cook one of our Easter treats!

Freycinet to Hobart

Morning: Depart early and stop at Spiky Bridge, a quirky 19th-century convict-built bridge near Swansea. Continue to Kate’s Berry Farm for breakfast or brunch—try their waffles or berry pancakes.

Afternoon: Scenic drive back to Hobart via the east coast, with a stop in Bicheno to stretch your legs and visit the blowhole.

Return the motorhome by 3:30 pm in Hobart. For those staying the night, grab dinner at Waterman’s Hotel or a casual bite at Franklin Wharf.
